The Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) program at South Dakota Mines is searching for a Director to oversee all WiSE activities and programming and help provide oversight of the campus-wide First Year Mentors program. This is a benefited position that will be part-time (100% effort from July 22 – April 21, 50% effort from April 22 through May 21 and 50% effort from June 22 through July 21, with May 22 to June 21 off in the summers). This position will help plan and execute monthly programming for women students, as well as help plan and coordinate annual events. The Director will also advise and mentor first-year students in a professional advising capacity and provide support to women students as well as overseeing all WiSE programming, activities and facilitate campus-wide events, build connections with K-12 schools and plan outreach events, and participate in orientation and other retention activities.
The successful candidate will possess highly integrated interpersonal communication skills and a team-player attitude. This position represents the university in a variety of settings both on and off campus and must conduct themselves appropriately, responsibly, and professionally. The successful candidate must be able to communicate and work with both internal and external constituents, including South Dakota Mines faculty, students, and staff, as well as K-12 students, teachers, administrators and members of the media. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate organizational and time management skills. The ability to work some evening and weekend hours is necessary. A bachelor’s degree is required.
