Job Description Summary
The Wellness and Recreation team manages multiple fitness and recreation facilities and coordinates a variety of on- and off-campus recreation and wellness education programming. Along with professional staff and graduate assistants, the Well-being Programming Assistant is responsible for supporting services, resources, and programs related to holistic well-being education for students with a focus on physical activity, stress management, nutrition, sleep, mindfulness, and overall well-being. All Well-being Program Assistants are members of the Department of Student Engagement and the Division of Student Affairs. Specific responsibilities include:

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of in-person outreach and educational events related to a variety of well-being topics, including but not limited to stress management, emotional intelligence, physical activity, nutrition, mindfulness, sleep, and growth mindset.
  • Help the Well-being Programming Assistant team research, plan, develop, and implement campus-wide awareness and education passive campaigns through print, social media, and other means of communication.
  • Staff tabling events throughout the year to promote awareness of healthy behaviors.
  • Conduct outreach to all students to create opportunities for education and collaboration.
  • Act as a role model and positive voice on campus in promoting greater health-conscious attitudes and challenging campus social norms where appropriate.
  • Assist with program assessment, including contributing to the development of an end-of-year report.
  • Assist with administrative work, including data management, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum of a 2.5 GPA

  • Demonstrated passion in health, wellness, well-being and fitness
  • Previous experience with event planning at Chapman University
  • Familiarity with departments and organizations at Chapman
  • Demonstrated desire to learn
  • Knowledge of or experience with campus policies and procedures
