Job Summary

The Web Developer will serve as a key member of the College of Engineering’s communications, promotions and public relations team. This individual will design, code, test and debug dynamic web pages, emails, tools and methods using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA conformance. This individual will also create functional prototypes of web components, websites, emails and web applications using HTML, CSS, Python and JavaScript; implement frameworks such as Bootstrap and React JS; integrate data from various back-end services and databases; interpret and document end-user information needs; utilize tools such as Google Analytics and Siteimprove to monitor and report relevant website metrics; and maintain system and process documentation and administer training to new users.

What We Are Looking For

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer graphics technology, computer science, information technology, or a web or application design/development-related field
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in web design/development or relevant experience working with a research-oriented organization or tech company (experience may include relevant courses, co-ops, or internships)

 

PREFERRED:

  • Experience following brand standards and operating within identity guidelines
  • Experience in fast-paced work environments
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work as job duties demand
  • Experience in Zope, Plone 5, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Analytics, Siteimprove, Delivra, Python, JavaScript, React JS, and/or SQL

 

SKILLS:

REQUIRED:

  • Strong skills based on experience with programming and website design/development and demonstrated experience supporting/maintaining/designing/developing a website
  • Knowledge in HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap 4 and WCAG 2.0
  • Knowledge of and demonstrable experience in developing web-based tools and APIs
  • Ability to interpret and document end-user information needs
  • Ability to formulate and plan for new system implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently and be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proven ability to provide effective direction to production partners
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills
