Texas A&M University is undergoing a university wide consolidation of the phone systems. As the VOIP Engineer, you will configure, install, test, troubleshoot and resolve Voice Over IP (VOIP) network issues and analog phone services university wide. You will be working with CISCO unified communication products and switching infrastructure. Collaborating with senior members of the networking team, you will be exposed to network design and implementation.  


 


Work hours are generally 8-5 pm though on-call support (nights and weekends ) may be needed occasionally.  


 


Salary Range: $65,000 commensurate with education and experience  



Qualifications 


  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 2 years of networking design experience 

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills 

  • Well qualified candidate will have enterprise-level experience designing, implementing, and administering VOIP platforms 

  • Must be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted asylum or refugee status 

  • CISCO certification a plus 


 


Responsibilities 


  • Problem Management - In collaboration with the field services and installation teams, helps analyze, troubleshoot, track, and repair the enterprise’s data communications networks.  

  • New Technology Deployment and System Integration Testing - Assists with new technology deployments and integration testing. 

  • Documentation - Document network engineering designs, plans, maps, methods and procedures 

  • Design and Update Telecommunications Networks - 


  • Professional Development - Participate in training and professional development sessions.  

  • Technology Planning and Evaluation - Assist with the evaluation of new technologies to determine their applicability to the client’s needs. 

  • Common Duties - Confer with other personnel in resolving problems involving procedural and technical matters; research problems and recommend solutions; provide resource estimates and progress reports and ensures all work is accurate and in compliance
