Job Summary
 
The School of Education at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for a  one-year, full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in August  2024 with requirements to be physically present on the Hattiesburg campus. We aim to recruit  applicants who will emphasize training students to become productive and thoughtful researchers  and practitioners in multiple program areas. This position will support the rapid growth in the school, specifically in the graduate Education Administration, Higher Education Administration and Research and Education Foundations programs. These programs within the School of Education include M.S. and M.Ed., Ed.S, and Ed.D., and Ph.D. degrees. Courses include face-to-face, online, and hybrid delivery formats. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the missions of the School of Education at the graduate level.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Teaching and mentoring graduate students in research classes across programs.
  • Contributing to the mission of the university and profession through service activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Minimum Qualifications  
    A Ph.D. degree in Educational Research or closely related field (by August 2024).

     Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


    • Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, concise and quality communication (verbal and written) in a timely manner to a diverse population.
    • Experience setting clear performance expectations and provision of meaningful feedback.


    Preferred Qualifications  
     
    Interest, training or experience teaching graduate interdisciplinary educational research courses. Experience in program evaluation, survey methods, foundations of research, statistics, and/or action research. Experience mentoring student research. Credentials to teach in at least two of the three specific programs listed above.
