JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

PENN STATE DICKINSON LAW, located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, is seeking Visiting Assistant Professors of Law, Visiting Associate Professors of Law, or Visiting Professors of Law for the 2024-2025 academic year. Visiting faculty work in support of the law school’s mission to prepare students to practice greatness. The appointment term may be for Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or the full 2024-25 academic year. The title will depend on the experience of the candidate. The compensation will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s current rank, title, education, and experience. 

Dickinson Law has a variety of curricular needs for the 2024-2025 academic year, including Advocacy and Litigation Courses, Corporations, Legal Analysis & Writing, Legal Research, Professional Responsibility, and Torts.  Secondary course coverage needs are Civil Procedure and Contracts.  

We are open to considering applicants with a wide range of substantive and teaching experience. Candidate qualifications may include relevant teaching or practice experience, fellowships, judicial clerkships at any level, interdisciplinary scholarly interests, and/or post-J.D. studies, degrees, or certificates.  Successful applicants must have experiences that suggest an ability to effectively teach students in a legal education setting.

The assistant teaching professor should possess a terminal degree or its equivalent in an academic field related to his/her teaching specialization; alternatively, the assistant teaching professor without a terminal degree should possess at least a master's degree or its equivalent in an academic field related to their teaching specialization; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher and adviser; and must have shown evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter. 

The associate teaching professor should possess a terminal degree in an academic field related to their teaching specialization; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher and adviser; and must have shown evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter. Alternatively, the associate teaching professor without a terminal degree should possess at least a master's degree or its equivalent in an academic field related to their teaching specialization; and must have demonstrated exceptional ability as a teacher and adviser while in the rank of senior lecturer or instructor; and must have shown evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter at a level of distinction beyond that of the assistant teaching professor.

The teaching professor should possess a terminal degree in an academic field related to their teaching specialization; must have demonstrated exceptional ability as a teacher and adviser while in the rank of associate teaching professor; and must have shown evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter at a level of distinction beyond that of the associate teaching professor.
