Position Summary

These positions are for a 2-year to 2.5 year renewable visiting assistant professor faculty or, for eligible candidates, teaching-track faculty in Computer and Information Science. The position can begin as early as January of 2024 and extends until May, 2026. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate computing courses. The selected candidates will teach courses in the one of the following focus areas software engineering, programming – OOP in Java, distributed programming, database management systems, introduction to Networks, cloud architecture, and business intelligence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The functions below are detailed in the faculty handbook in Volume IV of the Institutional Policy Manual. Teach 24 -27 credit hours per contract year or as otherwise specified by the faculty member’s appointment notice; student course evaluations are to be completed in each course. Faculty are expected to employ sound pedagogical practices and to use technology as appropriate, including the University’s learning management system. Faculty shall assist with course revisions and curriculum development as needed; Achieve appropriate student-learning outcomes in all courses taught; Participate in service to the University. Attend convocations, commencement exercises and community meetings; Participate in ongoing professional development; and Fulfill the applicable essential duties and responsibilities of a faculty member as described in Volume IV of the Gannon University Institutional Policy Manual which contains the approved policies and procedures of the University concerning the terms and conditions of faculty employment at the University.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Ph.D., in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity or closely related field is required. Although Ph.D. is preferred, ABDs, soon to be completed Ph.D., and Master’s degree with substantial work experience will be considered.
Experience: Experience is preferred in one or more of the following: information systems, data analytics, data science, cloud computing, cybersecurity and/or database systems. A track record of successful project leadership and industrial experience are also preferred.
