Visiting Lecturer of Polish Studies

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for the position of Visiting Lecturer of Polish Studies, pending budgetary approval. The appointment will begin on September 1, 2024, and end on April 30, 2025. Duties include: (i) teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced Polish language, as well as Polish and Polish-comparative literature, cinema, and culture in English at the undergraduate level and (ii) serving as acting Polish Minor Advisor. Scholarly publication and active participation in national professional associations is encouraged but is not a prerequisite for appointment.
A PhD in Slavic or a related field (preferably with a specialization in Polish second-language acquisition) is required by the appointment start date, as are native or ACTFL superior proficiency in Polish and English and teaching experience at the university level (preferably at an Anglophone institution). Proficiency in other Central European languages, literatures, and cultures is desirable, but not a prerequisite.
