Job Description:


The Department of Theater and Dance at Carleton College invites applications for a temporary one-term, one-course visiting position to teach Costume Design for the Performing Arts in the 2024-25 academic year.

We seek an MFA in costume design, or commensurate experience in the field with a background in teaching at a college level and an active design resume.  The candidate will be prepared to teach THEA 238 Costume Design for The Performing Arts with a demonstrated ability to teach a course that covers the basic concepts and principles of costume design and how they apply to the performing arts, especially theater and dance. The course will explore how the principles of costume design can be used to enhance productions. It will cover the collaborative process, in depth analysis of script, characters and choreography as well as various rendering techniques. This is a course for theater majors and non-majors  and fulfills an Arts Practice requirement.
