VISITING INSTRUCTOR OF JAPANESE LANGUAGE

Visiting Instructor of Japanese Language

The Department of Asian and Slavic Languages and Literatures in the Division of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Iowa is searching for a Visiting Instructor in Japanese Language for the academic year 2024-2025. The initial appointment period for this position is one year with the possibility of extension for a total of three years. The University has a variety of faculty appointment types, and there are times when visiting instructor lines can be converted to longer-term appointments. Responsibilities include teaching three language courses per semester (at least a minimum of 24 s.h. per year) and assisting in extra-curricular activities organized by the Japanese Program.

The salary range for this position is $55,000-60,000.

•    Master’s degree or higher in Japanese Pedagogy, Japanese Linguistics, or a relevant field
 

•    Native or near-native fluency in English and Japanese
•    Experience in teaching lower-level Japanese language courses at the college/university level in the U.S.

•    Experience in teaching upper-level language courses
•    Ability to effectively collaborate with others in programmatic service
