Description:
The University of Illinois, Department of Medicine is seeking candidates for the Biomedical Informatics Research Specialist position for the All of Us Research Program, a Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Study. The All of Us Research Program seeks to extend precision medicine to all diseases by building a national research cohort of one million or more U.S. participants. All of Us is a participant-engaged, data-driven enterprise supporting research at the intersection of human biology, behavior, genetics, environment, data science, computation and much more to produce new knowledge with the goal of developing more effective ways to treat disease. As part of this dynamic team, the Bioinformatics Research Specialist contributes to the conceptualization, design, development and delivery of biomedical informatics research projects, addressing all areas of clinical and translational science for the UIC arm of the All of Us Research Program. This position conducts and manages advanced biomedical informatics research projects, analyzes results, processes and develops innovative approaches to refine project design and outcomes based on the research project needs. This position works collaboratively with the All of Us Research Project along the scientific pipeline, from discovery through the study of patients and populations to improve public health to advance the deployment of information and computation in healthcare; interpret critical biological findings; and translate biological discoveries into clinical utility.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Biomedical Informatics, Clinical Informatics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field required. A minimum of 2 years of related experience in clinical research informatics is required.
Working knowledge of one or more common data models in biomedical informatics, such as OMOP. Strong exposure to biomedical ontologies and controlled variables.
Hands-on experience with data extract and transformation in the MS or Oracle environments. Requires excellent communication, organization, presentation, analytical and computational skills.
Advanced skills in data analytics and data mining. Excellent problem-solving skills and abilities.
Strong skills in R, SQL, Python, and Perl.
