The Department of Classics at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a Visiting Associate Professor position in Classics with an area of expertise in Latin literature and its reception. Pending budgetary approval, the appointment will be for three years, beginning on September 1, 2024, and ending on April 30, 2027.   • reception studies, including the mobility and circulation of texts in antiquity;

  • travel literature;

  • digital humanities.

The department seeks applicants who have demonstrated both excellence and promise in research and teaching and who have a strong commitment to Classics as a meaningful field of study in the modern world that can engage and support students of all backgrounds in the twenty-first century. As a member of the Pitt Classics Department, the successful candidate will be expected to think and act creatively in integrating teaching, mentoring, and scholarship while promoting diversity and inclusion in the classroom and throughout the University community.
