Job Description:

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Berry College, an ACS and ASBMB approved program, invites applications for a two-year visiting assistant professor position, starting in August 2024. The successful candidate is expected to teach organic and general chemistry courses, as well as the associated laboratories. The candidate should share our department's commitment to student engagement inside and outside of the classroom, in addition to our desire to promote opportunities for students from under-represented groups.

Our collegial department of ten faculty members strives for excellence in teaching chemistry and mentoring students from a wide range of backgrounds in a comprehensive college with a liberal arts core. Our department is similarly committed to the training and mentorship of visiting faculty members to help them excel in the classroom. There are also opportunities to participate in collaborative research with faculty and undergraduates within our department. This environment has helped previous visiting faculty to apply successfully to tenure-track positions. Berry is committed to increasing the diversity of our faculty and staff. Requirements:

Preference will be given to applicants who have completed the Ph.D. requirements in chemistry by the time of appointment, but those with a Master's degree and relevant experience will also be considered as a visiting lecturer.
