Position Details

The Education Department at The University of Tampa invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Education. We seek an enthusiastic and accomplished individual with a terminal degree in Curriculum and Instruction or related field in education, specializing in an area of Secondary Education. The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of a master's degree in TESOL with working knowledge and experience of grades 6-12 public school state standards, district level teacher evaluation frameworks, and InTASC.

Responsibilities will include:
•    Teaching a range of courses related to Secondary Curriculum and Instruction at the undergraduate level.
•    Teaching a range of ESOL related courses at the undergraduate level.
•    Oversight of the Professional Education Minor
•    Supervising students in field-based settings.
•    Developing and delivering innovative and engaging curriculum that aligns with current educational trends and standards.
•    Mentoring and advising students contributing to their academic and professional growth.
•    Engaging in and maintaining an active and impactful research agenda in the field of education.
•    Collaborating with colleagues in committee work, on research projects, and publications.
•    Participating in departmental and university service activities.
•    Contributing to the development and enhancement of curriculum and program offerings.
 

Minimum qualifications
•    Terminal degree in Curriculum and Instruction or related field in education specializing in Secondary Education.
•    Possess a minimum of a master's degree in TESOL.
•    Documentation of a minimum of three years of recent successful teaching experience in a 6-12 setting.
•    Evidence of scholarly productivity with a clear research agenda.
•    Evidence of leadership roles in educational settings.

•    Experience in teaching education courses at the college level.
•    Demonstrates best teaching practices in curriculum theory that engage student learning.
•    Demonstrates potential or a record of significant contributions to educational research.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Demonstrates value for human diversity, inclusion, and related social issues.
•    Infuses technology in planning and implementing curriculum.
•    Applicants with five years or more of recent teaching experience in 6-12 a setting
 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
