Brief Job Description
Buffalo State, State University of New York (SUNY), seeks candidates for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Political Science and Public Administration beginning August 2022. Candidate will teach in one or more of the following areas: graduate and undergraduate level research design and/or statistics, organizational behavior/theory, public administration theory, emergency management and other courses in the department’s programs.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Public Administration, or a closely-related field such as public affairs, public policy, or political science. ABDs will be considered. The successful applicant needs to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and evidence of scholarly activity in the field of public administration and/or nonprofit management. In the cover letter, candidates should speak to their ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
The Department is seeking applicants with broad training in the field of Public Administration who can teach in one or more of the following areas: graduate level research design and/or statistics, organizational behavior/theory, public administration theory, emergency management and other courses in the department’s programs. Applicants must indicate in their cover letter the graduate and undergraduate courses they are qualified and interested in teaching, in addition to the modalities in which courses can be facilitated. The Department offers the following degree programs: BA Political Science, BA International Relations, MPA as well as graduate certificates in public management and emergency and disaster management.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience in higher education, experience working in a government office or non-profit agency, and/or an interest in engaging in service to the department.
