Department Summary

Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide ranging services to campus. Information Services consists of four major functional areas: Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers; Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management and data management; Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment. Information Services also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center. IS works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

The Audio Visual (AV) Services team, part of Technology Infrastructure, provides assistance, coordination, training and leadership in AV on campus, providing essential services to faculty, staff, and students in their teaching, learning, work and research.


Position Summary

Under the general direction of the AV Services Manager, the incumbent serves as a videographer and producer for the AV Services team and studio/AV classroom facilities. The incumbent produces, directs, writes, videotapes and edits assigned video and audio events, and also serves as production staff to complete tasks on discrete projects, ranging from pre-production, production, and post-production work on a wide variety of educational, promotional, and documentary videos for internal University of Oregon clients and campus partners. This position also has the responsibility for the coordination of major, ongoing production projects and working with team members to supervise the student employees.


Minimum Requirements

• Five years of television production videography experience including at least two years of broadcast quality experience.


Professional Competencies

• Proficiency in Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud applications
• Ability to create strong stories for high quality videos
• Have Ability to create strong highlight reels that accurately reflect skills in editing / cinematography
• Possess a solid understanding of design applications like Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
• Effective in working under tight deadlines, prioritizing issues and managing concurrent assignments
• Attention to detail while working with multiple projects
• Requires ability to work with minimal supervision and must work well independently as well as with groups.
• Must be able to work in an environment of high activity with constant interruptions.
• Must make effective use of time. Workflow is cyclic and workloads sometimes sporadic, so it is essential to take initiative.
• Must be able to work for long periods under artificial light.
• Outstanding track record in service delivery, customer service, and internal communication.
• Ability to address customer escalations with tact, and diplomacy.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. The incumbent must be able to communicate with a wide range of users and partners, as well as with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
• Be able to work extended hours as needed for projects
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience.


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in higher education, preferably in a media services role.
• Previous lead-work experience or supervisory experience
• Experience with ITIL or ITSM, or other technology industry-based framework.
• Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local regulatory compliance standards and guidelines.
• Experience in filming, producing and editing live events & interviews
• Experience creating and managing scripts, video shoots and overall video production, start to finish
