Job Description:
  • Responsible for crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, personal advocacy, follow-up contact and for providing appropriate community referrals for patients and/or their families. Maintains an active caseload providing interventions as needed and within the area of expertise.
  • Conducts intake for immediate appointment needs, following-up with service providers and community partners to ensure that children and families qualify and are receiving appropriate and timely services. Transitions clients to appropriate victim advocates from community agencies and assists with any accessibility problems that may arise. Requires networking/on-going communication with community agencies to ensure transfers to the appropriate agency.
  • Serves as the victim's advocate by attending criminal justice proceedings, assisting the family with victim's compensation and helping complete victim impact statement.
  • Provides presentations/trainings for schools and community agencies about issues related to victimization/violence to students and faculty in order to assist victims of crime in self-reporting and identifying crime victims for the purpose of providing referrals for needed services.
  • Attends weekly case reviews to discuss unique needs of the child, case management progress and recommendations; ensuring the seamless coordination of services and providing updates.
  • Attends staffing's on behalf of child victims and services as a liaison between the Rapid Response Team and community agency members in helping to ensure the linkage and provision of appropriate services to child victim services.
  • Maintains client and program records in accordance with applicable standards, regulations and grant requirements.
Expected Salary:

$40,000 to $48,000 annually depending on education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS, BA or Master's degree from an accredited institution in Psychology, Education, Social Services, Legal Studies, Counseling, or a related field. Five (5) or more years of experience in victim advocacy may be substituted for two (2) years undergraduate study.
  • Applicant should have a minimum of two (2) years in victim advocacy.
  • Applicant should have advanced training of human trafficking and victims relocating to Florida due to crimes out of state/country transfers to receive uninterrupted services.
