Job Description:
Dakota County Technical College seeks a Veterinary Technician Instructor dedicated to excellence in
teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural

Faculty members at Dakota County Technical College are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. Teach following course:
- VTEC – 2110: LARGE ANIMAL: This course introduces the livestock and equine industry and the various species of large animal livestock. This includes livestock terminology, breeds, production systems, basic management practices, preventive medicine, lameness examinations and conditions, necropsy procedures and animal products and by-products. Techniques covered will include restraint, behavior, and medical and surgical nursing procedures of large animals and equine. This course includes field trips.
Available teaching load: 6 credits for Fall 2024.
Required Qualifications:
Education Requirement
- Associate degree in veterinary technology from an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited program or doctorate in veterinary medicine.
Occupational Experience Requirement
- Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in veterinary medicine or technology.
Recency Requirement
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
- Current Minnesota certification as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or current Minnesota license as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-5 years large animal experience, including large animal clinical experience.
- Familiarity with equine, bovine (beef and dairy), and ruminant species.
- Extensive experience working with horses, as required essential skills of the large animal curriculum are focused on this species.

Salary: Dependent on credit load, salary is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2023-2025 MSCF Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
Depending on credit load, the State of Minnesota offers:
