The Veterinary Technician will support our teams at Texas A&M Large Animal Hospital. We take great pride in developing our team, and we are dedicated to helping them achieve their highest potential. Our technicians are trained to be the power behind patient care. Successful candidates will play an absolute vital role in the care of our patients alongside our faculty veterinarians, residents, interns, and 4th year professional veterinary students. This position is crucial in helping guide, teach, and mentor veterinarians of our future. This role will have the opportunity to work around a multitude of species including, horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, llamas, alpacas, camels, and the occasional reindeer.

The VMTH offers additional incentives for our veterinary technician staff to balance their careers, family, and pets.  The VMTH provides a generous cellphone allowance, opportunities for continuing education at the local, state, and national level, scrubs, discounted pet care, and much more. Shift differential pay is available for eligible shifts. There is opportunity for career ladder advancement as well as opportunity for licensed veterinary technicians to work towards specialty certification. The Blinn Veterinary Technology Program is housed in the same building as the VMTH.  There are flexible work schedules for evening, overnight and weekend shifts in some service areas of the VMTH.

Qualifications

We have multiple Veterinary Technician positions available, and we are recruiting for all levels and shifts!

Minimum qualifications for a Veterinary Technician I: Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science or a related area, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. No experience required. Pay Range $19.11 - $21.02

Minimum qualification for a Veterinary Technician II: Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science or a related area, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Two years technical experience in veterinary medicine. Pay Range $20.04 - $22.04

Minimum qualification for a Veterinary Technician III: Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, or a related area or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.  Four years technical experience in a veterinary hospital or referral clinic environment. $21.33 - $23.46

Minimum qualifications for a Veterinary Technician IV: Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, or a related area or equivalent combination of education and experience. Six years technical experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic environment including one year of supervisory experience. Minimum $53,239.68

Well-qualified candidates would possess the following: Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science or a related area; medium to strong technical experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic environment. Previous experience with handling large animals.

Salary Range: Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule: Candidates must have the ability to work alternative shifts, holidays, weekends, and on-call duty.

Other Requirements or Factors: Must have the ability to work around animals, hay, or dust. Ability to move heavy loads.

Essential Personnel: This position is considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless or until relieved by their direct supervisor.
