Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Housekeeping Services is comprised of a staff of more than 400 employees who provide cleaning service and floor care to more than 40,000 campus customers in the maintenance and operation of the University’s 18 million plus square feet over 300 teaching, research, medical, administrative, residential, athletic and library buildings. Position Summary
A SIGN-ON BONUS OF $3,238 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE:
$1,619 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $1,619 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE.
THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR TWO (2) VEHICLE/EQUIPMENT OPERATORS. BY APPLYING, YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR BOTH POSITIONS:

This position is responsible for safe, efficient, and timely delivery of furniture, materials, supplies, and equipment on campus. Position is required to drive a vehicle. Position may also be required to deliver supplies or clean.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Requires appropriate licenses or certifications to operate assigned types of vehicles or equipment.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Must have a valid NC Driver’s License or ability to obtain prior to start date. Ability to drive light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles. Ability to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment. This position is designated as a mandatory employee and is required to report to work in the the event of a public health emergency. This position is designated as an adverse weather emergency position and is required to report to, or remain at work in the event of an adverse weather emergency. The employee is subject to being placed on-call in this position. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule in order to satisfy customer requests: for example, flexing schedule to work on the weekend. Ability to understand work orders, product labels, and other written job materials; to understand and follow instructions; and to understand and to produce written daily production/delivery reports.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prefer candidates with demonstrated experience working with a commercial moving company and/or with a university moving crew as a driver and demonstrated experience working with commercial moving/lifting equipment.
Required Licenses/Certifications
A valid NC Driver’s License is required for this position.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion. Applicants must be able to move objects weighing up to 75 lbs. and climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation. Employees are required to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.

**ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS
 

The selected candidate for this position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Qualified applicants must apply and be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
 
To be eligible for a Sign-on bonus, an individual must not have worked in a probationary, permanent, or time-limited appointment in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government, including without limitation the judicial system, state executive branch agencies, and the university system.


 A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time (more than 20 hours a week) employee are eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working more than 20 hours and  less than 40 hours per week).
 

This SHRA Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. All recipients must sign the Pay Back Agreement form.
