Job Summary/Basic Function:
Reports to the Director of Counseling and Testing and is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist in the certification of enrollment for veteran and military-affiliated students eligible fof VA educational benefits.
  • Review and verify student eligibility for various VA educational benefit programs.
  • Provide guidance and academic advising to students regarding available educational benefits, application procedures, and college degree program requirements.
  • Develop and implement the College’s continuity plan for military PLA awards.
  • Support the SCO in maintaining compliance with VA regulations, institutional policies and accreditations standards related to educational benefits.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of enrollment certifications and other required documentation to the VA and other relevant agencies.
  • Stay updated on changes to VA policies and procedures affecting educational benefits and certification requirements.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of veteran and military-affiliated students’ enrollment, certification status, and VA benefits usage.
  • Generate and assist in auditing enrollment and certification data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Physical Demands:
Able to traverse campus, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, bending, vision, hearing, and talking.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of VA educational benefits programs, policies and regulations preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education settings, particularly in roles related to student services or verterans affairs, is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse student populations, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and student information systems.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional services and support to veteran and military-affiliated students.
