Physical Requirements
Standing or walking with objects up to 25lb; Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods; Repetitive motion.
May involve heights above 4 feet; confined spaces; ditches; trenches; loud noises; hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste while on job sites.
Work is primarily done in an office environment; yet, position holder will travel to/from various on-campus work or job-site locations and may be exposed to elements of weather and temperature extremes.
Shift
8:00am – 5:00pm ( Monday – Friday)
Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors, emergencies, and crisis management requiring evening(s), weekend(s), and holiday(s) response.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, Utilities & Energy Management, the Utilities Systems Manager, provides administrative management and leadership direction for Utilities & Energy Management Emissions and Environmental Compliance, Controls Engineering, and Facilities Systems for the University of Kentucky – Lexington Campus; Communicates directly with Facilities Management and customers to define, plan, and prioritize projects, renovations, maintenance, and operations; Oversees the implementation of utility system strategic plans, programming, and central plant delivery strategies to ensure the reliable and economic delivery of utilities to the campus; Plans and organizes all facets of the day-to-day department activities to meet short and long-range goals and objectives; Collaborates with utilities team members in the creation of short and long-term operating plans, including projections for fuel, equipment needs and deployment, personnel allocation, maintenance, and capital plans; and Defines and analyzes departmental metrics, implements, and executes optimized economic operating plans, and makes recommendations for significant operational improvements as appropriate.
In addition, this position manages overall fiscal allocations for projects, renovations, and maintenance associated with emissions, environmental compliance, controls engineering, and facilities systems; Assists with the development of budgets and capital planning; Reviews, recommends, and negotiates means and methods for new and renovated systems; Reviews drawings and specifications for all new and renovated facilities and systems; Authorizes emissions, controls engineering, and facilities systems shutdowns and start-ups; Performs Emissions and Environmental Reporting; Ensures Utilities & Energy Management standards and requirements are met and/or exceeded in accordance with established procedures and processes and holds team members accountable; and Directly oversees the supervision of assigned departmental staff.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
MS Windows/Office; SAP; KRONOS
Driver’s License — Preferred
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Heating/Cooling Systems and Operations; Energy Conservation Management; Utilities; Building Codes; Safety and Environmental Compliance.
