The Opportunity:
Join our dynamic Utilities and Engineering team dedicated to ensuring the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of our utility metering systems. As a Utilities Specialist III, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing natural gas, potable water, sewer, and reclaim metering systems to meet regulatory standards and ensure precise measurement of resources.
Responsibilities:
Perform planned scheduled work orders for general and preventative maintenance, including removal, repair, and installation of commodity metering systems.
Plan, select, size, and configure metering components according to engineering requirements and department standards.
Conduct general maintenance tasks such as painting, priming, and sanding for asset protection and safety.
Review daily metering system notifications, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate data collection.
Coordinate with third-party vendors for meter maintenance and replacement schedules, establishing best practices.
Analyze historical data to preventively assess and correct metering errors/failures.
Assist with technical support and troubleshooting of smart grid system hardware as needed.
Utilize specialized equipment for detecting leaks and evaluating metering accuracy.
Document and maintain meter worksheets, inventory files, calibration sheets, and test results.
Respond to utility emergencies as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in technical applications for business, including remote desktop, Microsoft Excel, and various communication technologies.
Strong management skills, including planning, organizing, and controlling fieldwork.
Ability to work in confined spaces and assist with installations according to Utilities Standards.
Health Assessment Required:
UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
Additional Application Materials Required:
Two (2) professional references from current or previous supervisor/manager.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
This is an auxiliary (AUX) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
A Level II Fingerprint Background Check is required as part of the pre-employment process.
