Job Summary
Job Summary
Designs the visual layout for websites and a variety of internal and public-facing materials using sophisticated computer software programs with the goal of enhancing appeal to the user while maximizing functionality. Designs graphics, pages, forms, and navigation schema. Leads the overall visual branding strategy and executes design projects with creativity and enthusiasm. Requires familiarity with various graphic design software packages.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Designs a wide variety of internal and public-facing material using sophisticated computer software programs, including (but not limited to): infographics, presentations, data visualizations, instructional materials, advertising, brochures, posters, informational booklets, SOP’s, and other content in print and digital-ready files.
  •  Creates original illustrations, icon designs, web graphics, etc. to meet styles or project parameters.
  •  Confers with each of the Pediatrics divisions to determine needs, budget, and deadlines to bring projects to completion.
  •  Researches ideas related to each project and conceptualizes original work to communicate the intent of the project. 
  •  Using independent initiative to monitor changes in the Department, maintains website content and collaborates with Pediatrics IT to make design contributions.
  •  Under the direction of the Chair’s Administration Manager, designs and implements projects such as invitations for various events, certificates, PAS booklet, and Department announcements.
  •  Assists Chair with PowerPoint presentations.
  •  Under the direction of the Chair’s Administration Manager, acts as Department photographer for needs such as division photos, Vice Chair photos, significant Department events such as social gatherings, noteworthy academic events, awards at Pediatric Grand Rounds, Endowed Chair events, etc. Retouches photos as required. 
  •  Under the direction of the Chair’s Administration Manager, designs and facilitates hanging of the Chair’s artwork. 
  •  Coordinates with Pediatrics Human Resources to schedule and facilitate faculty photos, providing continuity and consistency.
  •  Acts as lead for the Department for Adobe DocuSign; familiarizes and trains administrative staff as the position’s availability permits.
  •  Becomes familiar with University Branding’s parameters; develops a strong rapport with their office.
  •  Collaborates with IHC/PCH when co-branding is required.
  •  Manages asset library and helps revamp and templatize internal content.
  •  Performs other related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalency and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  •  Solid grasp of graphic design principles.
  •  Ability to take direction from multiple customers; familiarity with the Department’s numerous divisions and programs.
  •  Exceptional project management skills. Ability to prioritize time-sensitive projects and regulate numerous and simultaneous deadlines with excellent attention to detail. 
  •  Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, clients, and management with excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  •  Ability to work independently and effectively, at times under pressure.
  •  Strong photography skills.
  •  Familiarity with web design and UI/UX design.
  •  Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  •  Strong skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
  •  Familiarity with Adobe DocuSign.
  •  Maintain an understanding of the latest trends in the design world to stay relevant.
  •  A deep passion for design and visual communication with a strong and diverse portfolio.
