Job Description:

Fitchburg State University Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science, federally funded college access programs for low-income/potentially first-generation high school students, are seeking Instructors for our Summer Academy program. Summer Academy Instructors will conduct classes in the specific content area of hire (English, Math, Science). Instructors will report to the Administrative Staff. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Administrative Staff to plan, develop, and deliver engaging, project-based curriculum in the academic areas of hire.
  • Attend all faculty meetings (weekly) and maintain records in accordance with grant requirements.
  • Collaborate with program tutors/academic mentors to monitor student performance and provide tutorial support when needed.
  • Refer students in need of academic intervention directly to the Administrative Staff.

  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, or related field in the content area required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Teacher certification required
  • Previous experience with disadvantaged populations, education opportunity programs, and bilingual ability helpful

  • Additional Information:

    Shift Information: This is a non-benefitted contractor position. 

    Summer Academy Dates: June 24 - August 2, 2024 (Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 1:00pm, lunch required) 

    Additional Dates: Two pre-summer planning meetings and one post-summer evaluation meeting. Additional dates as needed. 

    Stipend Salary: $1250 Per Class paid bi-weekly.
