General Summary
Assist in the development and implementation of student academic development/support services.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise program participants on academic, career, and college planning issues.
- Collaborate with program staff in planning and implementing residential components.
- Supervise staff and student participants during residential component activities (evening/overnight supervision).
- Develop and implement workshops and field trips to aid student development (some evenings and weekends).
- Train residence hall staff in program process and rules.
- Coordinate activities of the Student Advisory Board and Parent Support organization.
- Annually recruit, interview, and select new program participants.
- Collaborate with program staff in data collection, program planning, and report development.
- Represent the program at meetings, conferences and other events on camps, at targeted high schools and in the community.
- Perform related departmental duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge and skills in student development/learning concepts and techniques typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Guidance and Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is required.
One year of teaching, counseling, and/or youth development work experience is required.
The capability to plan and implement programs and projects is required.
Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills are required.
Strong computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office, Publisher, and social media platforms, are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with youth from lower-income and multicultural backgrounds is preferred.
