University Supervisor for The PREPARE+ Program

The Stout School of Education at High Point University invites applications for a 12-month, part-time position to serve as University Supervisor of the PREPARE+ Program. The University Supervisor serves as a resource and support person to PREPARE+ teacher residents; and serves as the lead on resolving issues with the candidate, in partnership with HPU faculty and educators in the LEA.
The position begins August 12, 2024 and ending May 16, 2025. The salary for this position is set at a non-negotiable rate per semester. This position reports to the Director of the PREPARE+ program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Consulting and following designated procedures identified in the PREPARE+ Residency Handbook and becoming familiar with guidelines and expectations established by HPU and the PREPARE+ program,
- Traveling to multiple school sites to supervise and coach teacher residents in the PREPARE+ program in the Fall 2024 semester and in the Spring 2025 semester (mileage will be reimbursed monthly),
- Maintaining a caseload of eight teacher residents within the Guilford County School and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School districts,
- Attending regularly scheduled meetings as part of the PREPARE+ leadership team,
- Completing a minimum of five on site observations spread across the semester, one of which will be a formal observation using the North Carolina Teacher Evaluation Rubric,
- Documenting progress of teacher residents throughout the semester using protocols established by PREPARE+ and HPU,
- Coordinating communication (scheduled meetings, observation data, and anecdotal notes) regarding progress of teacher residents with educators and faculty members assigned to the LEAs and HPU,
- Providing written documentation of each teacher resident’s progress using the appropriate observation instruments assigned by the Stout School of Education to maintain accountability and record-keeping,
- Monitoring student success and progress throughout the program of study,
- Holding regularly scheduled conferences with teacher residents to review progress,
- Mediating any concerns or problems regarding the candidate’s disposition performance,
- Notifying the PREPARE+ Director if a teacher resident’s observation indicates the need for an intervention plan or an extension of the residency experience and communicating any concerns or problems regarding the candidate’s disposition performance,
- Evaluating and scoring program evidences for successful completion of program, resulting in initial teacher licensure,
- Participating in any data collection related to the PREPARE+ teacher residency program and HPU Stout School of Education,
- Growing strong relationships between the university and school district partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Licensure

  • Candidates must hold current licensure as a teacher/Elementary Education certification required.
  • Candidates must have availability to supervise teacher residents during the traditional school day.

Experience and Training

  • Candidates must have a minimum of ten years of successful teaching in grades K-6 with experience in tested grade levels preferred
  • NBCT Preferred
  • Experience teaching during COVID preferred

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Online Learning Management Systems (BlackBoard, Canvas, Moodle)
