Position Summary
The project manager for the High Throughput Sequencing Facility (HTSF) will independently manage multiple small and large-scale and complex projects. This individual will be in charge of independently planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating project progress and will be instrumental in identifying and resolving any issues that arise during the project lifecycle. The project manager will actively communicate with customers to keep them apprised of progress, issues, and resolutions. The project manager will also liaise with internal HTSF staff regarding problems, resolutions and project deadlines and make independent decisions about technical solutions. The individual will work with the client and HTSF staff to address and manage project scope change, schedule, and costs. The project manager will create quotes and budgets and bill for complex projects. The individual will have a deep understanding of next generation sequencing and will keep up to date on new technologies in efforts to provide clients with pertinent information and recommendations during the project planning phase. The individual will be responsible for training and supervising junior staff. The project manager will identify and provide input on strategies to improve internal processes and the internal tracking/management software. 
This individual will be instrumental in updating the HTSF website with critical information and will spearhead educational events and seminars. The individual will create clear and concise training materials for staff. The project manager will also create and update SOPs and distribute and train staff regarding the SOPs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write and speak in a clear, approachable, and professional style. Excellent active listening skills in a variety of situations.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to track tasks and ensure timely progress of the project through completion.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to interact professionally, and constructively with faculty, staff, students, and external clients, even under challenging circumstances.
Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking.
Ability to cope with change, uncertainty, shifting priorities, and demanding deadlines. Remains flexible and focused when priorities change, even if changes result in rework.
Ability to act with a high degree of independent decision-making; however, is able to collaborate and work well in a team and knows when to reach out for assistance.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word and PowerPoint. 
Familiarity with a range of teleconference and other communication tools, including Zoom.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong mathematical skills.
Strong understanding of project financial accounting, billing, and cost tracking and management. 
Experience in managing complex financial reports for multiple projects a plus.
Project management professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Experience with laboratory information management software and database management software. 
Experience with project management software.
