Ohio State’s Department of Public Safety is hiring University Law Enforcement Officers (Fraternal Order of Police) to join the Police Division. ULEOs focus on safety of the university community as the top priority and provide physical security for various campus locations. Officers demonstrate stellar customer service as they engage with the community to provide a physical security presence, conduct high-visibility patrols, protect valuable property and provide general assistance.

University Law Enforcement Officers duties include; patrols assigned area; maintains order; directs vehicle/pedestrian traffic; enforces state laws and regulations; performs assigned investigations of criminal and non-criminal incidents; makes on-view or warrant arrests for criminal statute violations; resolves or prevents conflicts between persons or groups within campus community; enforces traffic laws and regulations; may, with specific supervisory direction, work independently in the resolution of department problems and/or needs; submits detailed reports regarding investigations of criminal and non-criminal incidents. May be assigned to a technical or specialized function related to law enforcement operations.
Subject to 24-hour call in. May work evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
Minimum age 21. Valid unrestricted Ohio operator's license upon appointment. Minimum sixty (60) semester credit hours of documented college coursework; or twelve (12) months public law enforcement experience; or equivalent combination education and experience. Must successfully complete medical/visual, psychological, physical performance evaluations, polygraph, and other pre-employment requirements prescribed by the University and police department prior to appointment, and possibly thereafter. No conviction record for felony or crime of moral turpitude. Current Ohio Peace Office certification required.

Desired minimum completion of 60 credit hours of college level coursework
