POSITION DETAILS

The Office of Enrollment Management, in consultation with key University constituents and in collaboration with 25 CUNY colleges, develops and implements a comprehensive enrollment plan with targets and strategies to meet specific enrollment goals that support the University???s mission. The University???s Office of Admissions Services (OAS) the central student recruiting hub which disseminates information about all of the colleges, provides guidance and support to prospective students, and receives, evaluates, and processes all undergraduate freshman and transfer student admissions applications.

Reporting to the University Executive Director of Admissions or the Director's designee, the University Admissions Specialist is responsible for upholding the high quality of the daily activities of the office, ensuring exemplary customer service, efficient and timely student-centered problem resolution, and accuracy in data reporting. As a frontline team member, the Specialist is critical in participating in and leading enrollment-related initiatives and undertakings. The Specialist is a well-rounded enrollment professional supporting the University???s vision and mission for strategic enrollment management and student success.

In addition to the duties in the CUNY title Overview, the University Admissions Specialist will:

  • Serve as a navigator, advisor, and overall subject matter expert on CUNY???s admissions policies, practices, and procedures, providing guidance and counsel to prospective students on academic program options and admissions requirements for the University's campus and online programs.
  • Manage current and prospective student admissions inquiries; investigate, communicate, and use professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive situations.
  • Contribute to the University Admissions base by establishing relationships with constituents assessing student needs and recommending student-friendly updates to programs and processes.
  • Serve as a Student Services resource connecting students with available resources across the University, which may include the Office of Student Financial Assistance, Office of the University Registrar, Office of Special Programs, and the Division of Student Services.
  • Consult with liaisons at CUNY institutions, governmental agencies, and community partners, to help students succeed.
  • Use various recruitment analysis systems, programs, and/or tools to assess the efficacy of our recruitment and enrollment efforts from the first-year experience through graduation (i.e. College Board EPS/Search, Live Person Statistics, Hobsons CRM Reporting Module, Ruffalo Noel Levitz analysis, etc.).
  • Work with the admissions communications team to develop multimedia communications to serve the needs of our enrollment counseling and recruitment efforts.
  • Prepare and process admissions applications and requisite supporting documentation to be sent to various admitting CUNY colleges; track, update, and maintain accuracy of student records.
  • Evaluate and audit student records and transcripts and communicate updates, issues, needs, and other admissions-related information to prospective students.
  • Maintain knowledge of and implement best practices in recruitment and enrollment of the populations served by the University; high school students, college transfers, and adult learners, seeking undergraduate or graduate study.

Notes:

Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required

PREFERRED :

  • Advanced communication skills, significant experience in customer service with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, and de-escalate conflict /remain professional in escalated scenarios.
  • Experience using electronic recruitment and communication systems, databases, and reporting tools, as well as interest in and ability to learn new and emerging platforms.

-Strong analytical, evaluative, research, critical thinking, and problem solving skills to interpret data and create quantitative and qualitative reports.

-Detail oriented and accurate with strong organizational skills and ability to establish plans, manager multiple assignments with conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive and student responsive office.

Administers central student admissions processes and technologies to ensure compliance with eligibility standards, policies and requirements.

  • Supervises day-to-day operations of admissions services and functions
  • Coordinates collection, analysis, and reporting of relevant data; integrates data from numerous outside sources
  • Maintains and investigates issues with complex admissions/registration systems
  • Compiles and reports statistics on transactions, system performance, and data quality
  • Develops methods to improve quality, productivity and effectiveness
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Annual salary starting between $62,411 - $75,465, commensurate with education, credentials and experience.
