The Division of Enrollment Management at Rutgers University–New Brunswick (EMNB) is comprised of seven student-facing and administrative units: Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of the Registrar, and the One Stop Student Services Center, as well as business, information technology, and strategy and analytics administrative teams. The division employs over 100 full-time staff and an additional 200+ student employees to fulfill its mission. The Enrollment Management IT Team (EM-IT) delivers quality and timely consultation services and support the Division of Enrollment Management – New Brunswick (EM-NB) and its units by streamlining the use of shared technologies and resources, implementing new platforms, and improving standards, policies, and procedures related to computing and associated business operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Unit Computing Manager (UCM) for the The Division of Enrollment Management.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Provides high-level technical support and consulting to division staff.
  • Develops and maintains SaaS solutions and scripts.
  • Updates and maintains division networks, servers, clients, and security.
  • Supervises full-time IT staff and ensures day-to-day service requests and incidents are assigned or escalated appropriately.
  • Provides end-user training on software and processes.
  • Works collaboratively with the Associate Director, IT and other leadership in the division to maintain specific knowledge of units within the division and how our services relate to their business strategy and goals.
  • Liases with central IT offices to support technology and user needs.
  • Works with vendors for product specifications, evaluations, technical problems and solutions,
  • Leads implementations of new technologies.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or information technology.
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in computer operations and networking.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver’s license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience providing comprehensive systems support for multiple locations and groups.
  • Strong and demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Office/365, computer hardware and software (Windows/Mac OS), Active Directory, LANs, network protocols, firewalls, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with endpoint management services (Cisco Meraki, Microsoft Intune).
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Effective communication and relationship building skills with multiple constituencies
  • Excellent writing skills, especially the rules of syntax, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Ability to effectively integrate and manage complex projects, and capacity for flexible thinking with excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an academic environment.
  • Experience working at the Rutgers, The State University of NJ or a similar multi-campus university.
  • Experience in training development and/or instructional design skills.
  • Experience supervising or managing IT help desk staff.
  • Experience developing applications on Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Experience writing ad hoc SQL queries.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, C#, PHP.
  • Knowledge of student information systems (including but not limited Salesforce, Oracle Student Financial Planning, Document Imaging Systems, Virtual Call Center platforms).
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies (i.e., A.I., CRM, Service Management Software, SIS).

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and move computers, printers, other equipment and storage materials.
  • Must be able to attend to functions off campus and work regularly scheduled evenings/weekend as required.
