DESCRIPTION

The UC San Diego Rady School of Management provides exceptional business education through its many academic degree programs. This position is at the UCSD Rady School of Management's Undergraduate Programs area. The area offers many undergraduate business courses, six minors (Finance, Business, Marketing, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and Technology, Innovation, and Supply Chain), two interdisciplinary majors (IS- International Business and Business Psychology), one joint major (Business Economics), and provides course work for several interdisciplinary majors on campus.

The position advises undergraduate students on registration procedures, requirements, course availability, required pre-requisites, drop/add procedures and deadlines, waiting list status, incompletes, and internships etc. The position interprets and implements university policies related to academic guidelines, student enrollments, student course selection, transfer of external courses for UCSD credit, etc.

The position advises and orients visiting undergraduate course instructors regarding student-related academic policies and departmental practices, grading processes, and accommodation policies.

The position represents the Rady School at on-campus events such as Welcome Week, orientations, Admit Day, Triton Day, Triton Transfer Day and presents information about Rady's undergraduate programs to UCSD residential colleges and a wide variety of student clubs/organizations. This position also responds to a broad range of questions from prospective students and occasionally from their parents. This position is responsible for interacting with the Registrar/Degree Audit Team and with other campus departments such as the Academic Integrity Office and the colleges.

Lastly, this position assists students with accommodations granted by the Office of Students with Disabilities by proctoring exams and making other necessary arrangements.

  • Hybrid work schedule with two days per week onsite (preferably Wednesday and Thursday). Rare evenings and weekends may be required

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in a fast-paced customer/student-centric position. Experience advising students regarding academic performance and course enrollment in a university setting for college course credit or towards a degree.

  • Experience with online student advising.

  • Experience researching, interpreting, recommending, and applying academic and non-academic policies at a university. Experience extrapolating university-wide (or organization-wide) policies.

  • Experience interpreting and explaining academic policies at a university concerning course registration, course/degree requirements, waitlist procedures, class sequencing, related to a degree program (ie for college course credit) within a university setting.

  • Experience working with students requesting accommodations; experience interacting with a university (or similar) Office of Disabilities, Counseling and Psychological Services, and other similar non-academic support departments.

  • Experience interpreting student & instructor needs for information or action. Experience providing advice and clear instructions, clarifying policies and providing accurate information to instructors and students.

  • Experience working independently, anticipating and troubleshooting problems, recommending solutions and implementing action. Multi-tasking, prioritization, and experience meeting deadlines.

  • Experience working as a team, supporting other team members by assisting with work and providing assistance in other ways.

  • Knowledge and experience to analyze/coordinate policies and procedures as they relate to a variety of academic and non-academic functions. Experience researching university policy and procedures, experience analyzing and deciding upon options and best next steps.
