Department Summary

The Robert D. Clark Honors College (CHC) is a liberal arts honors college within the University of Oregon, an AAU Research 1 institution. Founded in 1960, it is one of the oldest public university honors colleges in the United States. The College features a dedicated curriculum that provides students a strong interdisciplinary foundation in the liberal arts, while also giving faculty members the opportunity to design and teach innovative courses. CHC courses are typically run as seminars. They are writing-intensive and open only to honors college students. Courses are capped at 19 students or less and allow for vibrant intellectual discussions, unique opportunities for pedagogical experimentation, and sustained faculty-student interaction.


Position Summary

The Undergraduate Program Assistant for the Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon is a full-time position responsible for assisting the Dean and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the ongoing administration of class scheduling, contracting, and financial support for academic initiatives, and thesis support.

This position is responsible for performing administrative research, analysis, and evaluation in support of CHC programs and operations. Work at this level requires a comprehensive knowledge of the CHC programs, faculty and student requirements, and the overall operation of CHC and UO graduation requirements, Enrollment Management, and admissions processes at the college level.

This position works with Honors College faculty, staff, and students, and interacts with broader university faculty and staff. Functions are largely executed in a self-directed environment, and the position must demonstrate sound judgment. Success requires a proactive attitude and a willingness to accept responsibility, strong organization and time-management skills, a high level of attention to detail, an approachable demeanor, and the ability to work and communicate clearly and effectively with students from diverse backgrounds. The position reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies


Minimum Requirements

• Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; AND
• Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree or equivalent education and experience
• Office 365 experience, in particular with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
• Experience learning new software platforms quickly and/or existing knowledge of Banner, Courseleaf, Cognos, and/or Microsoft Access
• Experience guiding people with diverse backgrounds to learn new skills and/or guiding them through unfamiliar processes
• Experience developing and executing budgets and reporting on expenses
• Experience following complex institutional guidance (e.g., for allowable expenses, activity processes, etc.)
• Project management experience; or experience working on more than one project at the same time in various stages of development and with identifying and prioritizing time-sensitive tasks
