One of 10 divisions in the UNC OB-GYN department, the Complex Family Planning Division was established in 2013. It is comprised of three faculty and two fellows who provide complex family planning services at UNC Hospitals and the local Planned Parenthood affiliate. The UNC Fellowship in Complex Family Planning has been in existence, with continuously matched fellows, since 2009, and achieved accreditation by the ACGME in February 2021. We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual with interest in research, advocacy, education and clinical care. The successful candidate will have a track record of promising skills in these areas and be dedicated to the tripartite mission of excellence in clinical care, education, and research.
Clinical duties will include:

* Consultation, diagnosis, and medical/surgical management of complex ectopic pregnancies (e.g. cesarean scar ectopics)
* Management of contraception in the setting of chronic medical co-morbidities, as well as complications related to long-acting contraceptives and sterilization procedures
* Provision of comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care to some of the most vulnerable populations in North Carolina, including the uninsured, undocumented and homeless. Work on patient and community-centered interventions to ensure our population's receipt of equitable reproductive health care.
* Train fellows, residents and medical students in Complex Family Planning. The successful candidate will be integrally involved particularly in the training of fellows and residents.
* Management of induced and spontaneous abortions for social indications, maternal health, fetal indications.
* Management of complicated contraception such as difficult IUD insertions or removals, implant removals and insertions, other consults, and sterilization counseling and surgery scheduling
* Possible provision of general OB-GYN care, including obstetrics and prenatal care.
This faculty position will have the potential to support and enhance the vital research and educational missions of the division.
