Organizational Unit Overview
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a clinical science department within the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. As the regions only academic OBGYN department, the primary functions of the department are to teach obstetrics and gynecology to medical students, resident physicians, post graduate students, nurses and other allied health professional, provide evidence-based and comprehensive clinical service to the region, and conduct clinical research featuring our rural mission.
Job Duties
This position serves as the Ultrasound Manager with ultimate responsibility for all administrative activities related to the practice of sonography as well as serving as the senior sonographer. This position is responsible for working with the Division Chief of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and other leaders in the department (i.e. Department Chair, Medical Director, Administrator) to participate in the strategic planning for this unit. The person in this position has to provide a global perspective of the unit and offer recommendations and solutions for meeting the patient care demands and ensuring quality sonography work. In addition, the Ultrasound Manager will serve as the senior sonographer for obstetric and gynecology ultrasound exams, will serve as a resource for the ultrasound unit, and participate in teaching and training activities.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.

Minimum Education/Experience
Associate degree in medical sonography, cardio/vascular sonography, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licenses. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Experience in high risk obstetrics.
