The CSU Repair Shop offers troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of computers to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff. The Repair Shop employs installed licensed software and hardware, removes viruses and other malware, and performs system tune-ups. This position also assists students connecting to the CSU network, securely configuring their computers, and addressing any technical issues they may be having on their personal device. Repair Shop student employees will also be cross trained to perform help desk tasks and responsibilities. They will also be responsible for troubleshooting, imaging, updating, and maintaining classroom and lab environments.

  • Provide courteous, prompt, and excellent customer service when troubleshooting and resolving technical issues for the CSU community.
  • Help with the installation and maintenance of campus images
  • Assist with new PC connectivity to the CSU network
  • Complete customer service request in a timely fashion
  • Install computer hardware (i.e. Hard drives, Network cards, Video cards, etc.)
  • Install and setup computer software (MS Office, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Format and reinstall operating systems and any system drivers required by the computer
  • Maximize computer functionality (uninstall bloatware, maximize computer resources, etc.)
  • Provide assistance in the installation, management, and troubleshooting of networked devices (desktop PC, laptops, gaming consoles) and any additional items later approved by UITS
  • Troubleshoot CSU network connectivity for CSU residents in the Riverpark housing facilities, including, but not limited to, the PC, operating system, and applications.  This includes repairing network jacks and running network cabling
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must be enrolled at least ½ time

-      GPA greater than 2.5

-      Basic knowledge of personal computing and networking

-      Technical education and/or related experience (CPSC or CISM major preferred)

The salary is commensurate with education and experience.  This position can work up to 25 hours per week

  • The applicant must be knowledgeable in the current technologies for supporting computer hardware and network issues.
  • The applicant should be able to resolve common computer, software, and network issues; personal computer repair and networking skills preferred.
