Position Summary | Colorado State University invites applications for a two year, full-time, 24-month position as post-master’s fellow with the CSU Health Network. Each year of the fellowship will offer a different specialized training focus, to provide fellows with the flexibility to work in a variety of settings. The post-master’s fellowship requires graduation from an accredited master’s program in Counseling or Social Work and completion of an internship or field placement at a university counseling service or equivalent clinical experience. The program is designed to meet partial requirements for licensure in the state of Colorado. The fellowship begins July 29, 2024 and concludes July 28, 2026. The salary for the two-year assignment is $42,000-$45,320 per year, plus a benefits package. The post-master’s fellowship at the CSU Health Network is designed to prepare individuals for a staff position in a university counseling service, with particular emphasis on social workers or counselors wishing to work at universities that have integrated their mental health and medical services. The training of clinically skilled, ethical, self-aware, and culturally aware mental health professionals is central to our mission. During the first year, the fellow will be a part of the DAY (Drugs, Alcohol, and You) Programs multidisciplinary treatment team. The fellow will obtain skills to better assess and treat clients struggling with issues related to alcohol and other drugs (AOD) who are both voluntary and mandated to treatment. Fellows would join a close and multidisciplinary team. Fellow’s clinical hours will be divided between individual therapy, groups, facilitation of psycho-educational workshops, national best practice programs such as BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students), and participation in the Open to Change (OTC) multidisciplinary treatment team. OTC is an innovative program, designed for working with students who are in need of substance use treatment. The program offers weekly individual therapy, group, academic support, and access to psychiatric services. The fellow will have the unique opportunity to participate in all aspects of this multidisciplinary program, which uses a combination of sanctions and incentives to encourage positive change, while providing individualized treatment, psychoeducation, and compliance monitoring. In the past, more than half of DAY Programs students were mandated to treatment, but the demand for services for voluntary clients continues to rise. First-year fellows may also see General Service clients for individual or group therapy, depending on agency need. In the second year of the fellowship, fellows will work primarily in General Services, where they will have the opportunity to provide individual therapy, facilitate one or more therapy groups, and provide initial consultations (intakes). Fellows also may have the opportunity to devote up to eight hours per week to a particular area of interest. Possible specializations include trauma, eating disorders, or work on our post-hospitalization DBT-based treatment team (iTEAM), depending on the fellow’s interests and agency need. Additionally, throughout the two years of the fellowship, fellows will participate in providing drop-in counseling support through our on-call counseling team (OCC), as well as crisis intervention and university-based outreach and prevention services including advocacy and social justice interventions. The postdoctoral fellow is involved in advanced clinical training experiences through both supervision and participation in didactic seminars. In the second year of the fellowship, fellows may have the opportunity to co-facilitate a seminar for less advanced training clinicians. Seminar participation is negotiated with each fellow individually, based on experience and training needs. Finally, fellows may engage in program review and program development. Fellows also are expected to commit to the development of cultural competence through self-examination and participation in university-based outreach and prevention services for both the general student population and underrepresented groups on campus. The CSU Health Network has a strong commitment to multiculturalism and has solid working relationships with the various Diversity Programs and Services Offices on campus. |
