About This Role:
Primary Daily Responsibility: Manages and ensures Texas Success Initiative (TSI) compliance and college readiness initiatives.
The TSI Compliance and Reporting Specialist reports directly to the Senior Director of Advising. This position plays a pivotal role in undergraduate advising (on campus and online students), the Mathematics and English departments, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, managing and ensuring Texas Success Initiative (TSI) compliance and college readiness initiatives. This includes the development and implementation of TSI policies and procedures, training and compliance of advisors and the entire Lamar University campus to ensure college readiness initiatives are accomplished and that LU remains compliant with state TSI mandates.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Records, Admissions and Recruitment to notify students of TSI requirements.
  • Represents Lamar University with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and Texas Education Agency by serving as TSI Compliance Officer.
  • Designs, implements, and manages college and career readiness initiatives that bridge the gap from high school to college.
  • Serves as TSI liaison on campus by providing direct support to students, faculty, and staff regarding TSI regulations and policies.
  • Trains advisors for TSI compliance, registration requirements, and accurate course enrollment.
  • Maintains TSI database, analyze reports, run hold programs, audit student compliance statuses, and notifies students of TSI compliance and remediation requirements.
  • Designs and assesses reports for Mathematics and English departments and advising data.
  • Serves as Banner expert for TSI functions with Student Information Systems.
  • Troubleshoots TSI errors that appear on student transcripts from the university.
  • Resolves errors and problems on the CBM002 report.
  • Serves on relevant committees.
  • Assists Senior Director and Associate Directors with TSI policies, procedures, training, and other related staff or student needs.
  • Supports advising personnel with TSI related appointments and student questions.
  • Manages end of term process including updating students of their probation and suspension status and collaborating with faculty and staff to review suspension appeals
  • Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to needs of the university.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Candidates must have technology skills including spreadsheet, data systems, and record-keeping software. Candidates must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. A collegial and professional disposition is required. The candidate must have at least three years of experience in compliance and reporting.
