Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension and the Colorado Center for Transplantation Care, Research and Education (CCTCARE), located at the Anschutz Medical Campus, is recruiting a fellowship-trained and board-certified transplant nephrologist to join our expanding multidisciplinary transplant program.  CCTCARE is a unique, multi-disciplinary transplantation center that closely integrates basic, translational, and clinical research with education and training programs.  The successful applicant would be able to work with a comprehensive team including surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurse coordinators, pharmacists, and social workers. CCTCARE performs over 450 abdominal transplants annually with approximately 300 kidney transplants per year, including a growing living donor transplant program working in collaboration with Children’s Hospital Colorado.

The successful candidate will have completed training in Nephrology with further specific training in Transplant Nephrology.  The candidate should exhibit strong clinical proficiency in kidney transplantation care, while maintaining an unwavering commitment to ensuring the highest quality patient care. The successful candidate will be joining the University of Colorado Department of Medicine.  The Department of Medicine includes 1,300+ physicians, 300+ APPs, and 850 research and administrative staff, and over 500 residents and fellows.  The Department of Medicine includes a nationally recognized researchers, educators, and clinicians in 14 divisions. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical responsibilities will include all phases of kidney transplantation including review of patient’s referrals, pre-transplant consult visits and transplant evaluation, waitlist visits and management, perioperative management of new kidney transplant recipients, practice specific procedural care and management of the kidney transplant inpatient service, performing kidney transplant biopsies and clinics at a regional site.
  • Academic responsibilities include teaching learners in the Department of Medicine and Surgery, Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension continuing professional education, fellowship program activities, internal medicine residency experiences in nephrology, and medical school courses.
  • Research responsibilities will include engaging in active collaborative and mutidisplinary clinical research.
  • Administrative duties include managing community relationships, directing donor and candidate selection meeting, quality improvement initiatives, and community service. Candidate will also take donor call and will be responsible for helping to train organ procurement coordinators and assisting OPO with kidney donor policies and management protocols.
  • The successful candidate will participate in professional, and university service appropriate to the Faculty rank to support the academic mission of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
  • A key responsibility will be working in a collegial relationship with other Faculty members in the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension and the CCTCARE.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:  

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.  

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience, qualifications and years of service:

Assistant Professor:

  • MD or DO, and board certified in Nephrology
  • Completion of a 1-year Renal Transplant fellowship and academic interest in transplant nephrology, with prior publications in peer-reviewed preferred.
  • 0-8 years of experience

Associate Professor:

  • MD or DO, and board certified in Nephrology
  • Completion of a 1-year Renal Transplant fellowship and academic interest in transplant nephrology, with prior publications in peer-reviewed preferred.
  • 8-15 years of experience

Professor:

  • MD or DO, and board certified in Nephrology
  • Completion of a 1-year Renal Transplant fellowship and academic interest in transplant nephrology, with prior publications in peer-reviewed preferred.
  • 15 years of experience and beyond 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • UNOS eligibility or certification.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $216,000 to $280,000 

Associate Professor: $297,000 to $400,000

Professor: $357,000 to $500,000

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
