SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK (IN-SOCW-IUINA)

The IU School of Social Work works in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DSC) to better protect children at risk of abuse and neglect. A key to this collaboration is the creation of the Child Welfare Education and Training Partnership. The Partnership is designed to provide high quality social work education and statewide training for public child welfare employees. It provides Bachelor's of Social Work (BSW) students with preparation for employment, it allows DCS employees to enroll in the School's part-time Master's of Social Work (MSW) Program, and it provides state-of-the-art training to current DCS employees.

  • Develops and delivers training presentations and updates training materials and resources to address common problems/issues and educate on new information in area of expertise.
  • Assists in identifying the need for training documentation for users based on skills and knowledge analysis.
  • Ensures adherence to accessibility standards and/or universal design principals in presentations and documentation.
  • Assists in reporting on success of training services.
  • Keeps department informed of trends and training/education opportunities.
  • May act as lead for junior and hourly training staff.

 

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.  

 

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in social work, education, or other related field.

Preferred

  • Master's degree.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 4 years of educating, teaching, training or related experience.
  • Knowledge of/experience in child welfare.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Some travel is required.

This position is grant funded with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.
