Description of primary duties and responsibilities: | Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit: The School of Nursing at Fayetteville State University’s (FSU) mission is to educate a diverse population in southeastern North Carolina and beyond to be culturally competent, ethical, and caring nurses for a global society. Nursing is a discipline that builds on nursing theory, the natural, social, and applied sciences, and the humanities. The School of Nursing is committed to educating graduates to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care. The faculty values the systematic and purposeful application of the nursing process to promote the optimal health of clients throughout the life cycle and in various settings. The School of Nursing strives to produce graduates who appreciate lifelong learning and contribute to the profession of nursing, the community, and society. Primary Purpose of the Position: Fayetteville State University (FSU) is seeking to enhance its regional and national footprint in nursing education by adding an eminent nurse-scholar, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, to the School of Nursing. FSU is a public, comprehensive, Historically Black University located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. FSU is the second oldest public university in North Carolina and is the regional university of choice for students from rural, military, and other diverse backgrounds. |

Knowledge skills and abilities: | A proven record of expertise in grant procurement, research, and scholarship is required for this role. A positive and approachable demeanor, as well as the capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, are essential. Moreover, the candidate should demonstrate strong interpersonal abilities when interacting with patient care professionals in the FSU service area. A deep commitment to preserving and advancing FSU’s HBCU legacy, mission, and culture is essential. Additionally, the candidate must be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in North Carolina. |
