Description

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a tenured/tenure track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, to start on September 1, 2024. This search is focused in the area of Neural Engineering and is part of the Health Engineering cluster hire at NYU Tandon, a strategic effort to invest in research and development of health-related technologies. The faculty and students of the Department of Biomedical Engineering focus on connecting engineering and technology with medicine. Therefore, many groups have a substantial clinical component in their research. Strong connection and collaboration with world-class faculty at the NYU Langone Medical Center, the Grossman School of Medicine, and the College of Dentistry, offer unparalleled opportunities for research across boundaries through interdisciplinary collaborations. The laboratories in the department create new approaches and tools for medical imaging, tissue engineering and repair, bioinstrumentation and biosensors, mechanobiology, robotics and prosthetics for rehabilitation, synthetic and systems engineering, neuroengineering and a wide variety of other applications. Qualifications

We are looking to hire in the general area of neural-engineering. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering, or a closely related discipline. We seek individuals who have or have the potential to develop a strong record of scholarship, leadership, curricular innovation, entrepreneurship, and an excellent funding record. In addition, the applicants should have demonstrated or have the potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring. Candidates should consider key opportunities for synergy with NYU’s strong neuroscience centers and/or related clinical departments.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual (9 month) base salary range for this position is $110,000 – 170,000 for the Assistant Professor rank, $125,000 - $195,000 for the Associate Professor rank and $135,000 - $225,000 for the Full Professor rank.  New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
