Position Description & Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Studio teaching of viola and related activities including chamber music coaching, recital preparation, recruiting, performing with the Lawrence Chamber Players and other faculty ensembles, teaching in Lawrence’s flagship First Year Studies program, and the possibility of other teaching responsibilities depending upon candidate’s interests and qualifications. Additional responsibilities include all service related activities associated with a tenure-track position including student advising, participation in committee assignments, and other forms of institutional service. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated excellence in viola teaching and performance in a wide range of styles from baroque to new music to contemporary styles.  Must be able to bring our students to the highest levels of artistic and musical mastery in a nurturing, student-centered environment. We are looking for a forward-thinking, collaborative colleague. A background in community collaboration and civic engagement is desirable, as is a familiarity with alternate styles and genres. Some familiarity with improvisation is also a plus. 
 
Appropriate terminal degree or equivalent experience. A record of successful collegiate teaching and recruiting preferred.  Although this is a Conservatory position, strong support of the ideals and goals of a broad liberal arts education is a must.
 
RANK AND SALARY:                    
Tenure-track.  Rank and Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
