The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applicaitons for a Temporary Skilled Crafts - Carpenter on the Gainesville campus. This position will work in the scene shop assisting with building scenery for theatrical productions and maintaining the scene shop, light shop, and paint shop. Building scenery includes reading construction drawings and building according to plan using various carpentry tools (saws, power drills, pneumatic staplers, etc.)  Maintaining shops primarily involves cleaning and sorting according to direction given by the supervisor.

  • Building scenery- reading construction drawings and building according to plan using various carpentry tools (saws, power drills, pneumatic staplers, etc.); scenic painting possible.
  • Shop maintenance- cleaning and organizing according to direction given by the supervisor.
  • Theatre maintenance- cleaning, repairing, painting according to direction given by the supervisor.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. 
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience in technical theatre required. 
  • Experience with power tools and hand tools is required.
