Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for NJMS-Medicine-Infectious Diseases. This position is under the direction of the Principal Investigator(s), Data and Operations Management Center (DOMC) Director and other leadership, the Temporary Research Assistant is responsible for data collection, quality assurance of collected data (clinical, laboratory, demographic), regulatory submissions, routine data management tasks for data transmitted from the international sites, manuscript development, proposal assistance and other relevant scientific activities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Works with international sites in data capture, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and regulatory activities during protocol conduct.
  • Works with investigators, statisticians and study coordinators in design and set-up of case report forms (CRFs) for specific clinical, translational and basic science protocols.
  • Works with study coordinators and database programmer to develop appropriate and detailed standard operating procedures, training manuals and other materials for study conduct and data collection in the clinic, field and laboratory.
  • Reviews incoming completed case report forms (CRFs) for accuracy and completion, from the field sites.
  • Generates and responds to data queries for quality assurance of data collected in the field. Identify missing, incorrect and illogical responses for queries to field sites for correction.
  • Maintains databases as per operating procedures and under guidance of database programmer and study coordinator(s).
  • Assists with basic statistical analyses, literature reviews, or other study-related tasks as needed and directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in computer science, information systems management or related field (statistics, operations research, public health).
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’ Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy
  • Some basic understanding of data management in clinical research and have experience working in other software platforms relevant to clinical research (REDCap, R, Microsoft Office and internet applications).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of biostatistics and clinical research is preferred.
