Essential Job Duties
The Research Assistant will be part of the Digital Agriculture Team in the Suggs Lab for Precision Agriculture and Machinery Systems located in the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department. This position has the primary goal of developing and testing mechanical, electrical, sensing, and data systems for planting and seeding of non-traditional crops.
This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Metal fabrication
  • Mechanical systems development, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Embedded system development
  • Sensors and data collection systems 
  • DC electrical systems
  • Interfacing with commercial precision agriculture components
  • Field testing planters and seeders
  • Written and oral communications with the public, scientific community, and stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned
