Job Summary

The temporary research assistant will assist with preparing a manuscript examining the Everyday Discrimination Scale, its applications in relation to health and health-related behaviors, and ongoing practices regarding the operationalization of the measure. Working alongside Dr. Lawrence, the temporary assistant will assist with summarizing studies identified through a systematic review of the literature and contribute to manuscript preparation for publication. This position would be funded through the project completion – with a target date of July 2024.

Essential Functions

  • Summarizing literature from already-identified studies.
  • Contributing to manuscript development.
  • Meetings with research fellow (sometimes with Dr. Lawrence, if needed).

Required Qualifications

  • PhD student or hold an equivalent degree in medical sociology, social and behavioral sciences, epidemiology, social epidemiology, or related field.
  • 0 - 1 year(s) of experience conducting systematic reviews and manuscript preparation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comfortability working in a team setting.
  • Familiarity with research on racism and health.
  • Experience with the Everyday Discrimination Scale.
  • Experience with self-reported measures and evaluating their strengths and weaknesses.

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table

Additional Information

This is a part-time temporary position classified as non-exempt.  The pay offered is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
