The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Temporary Nighthawk Engagement and Student Transitions Coordinator on the Dahlonega campus. The Temporary Coordinator of Nighthawk Engagement and Student Transitions (NEST) at the University of North Georgia will execute programming designed to support new and continuing students during their transition into and through the University of North Georgia.  Housed on the Dahlonega campus, the Coordinator has primary responsibility for directing, developing, and administering in-person New Student Orientation (NSO), and Parent and Family Orientations on the Dahlonega Campus and sharing leadership for NSO and PFO programming on all other campuses and in all other formats. This position will also support oversight for in person travel logistics, including supplies, transportation, and meals, and technology support during virtual orientations. The Coordinator will serve on departmental and cross-campus committees, and will collect, analyze and disseminate data and advocate for new student needs. The ideal candidate will be a vital member of the Student Affairs and Enrollment team who is inclusive, flexible, innovative, and open to creating and implementing new ideas. Evening and weekend hours.

  • Coordinate new student programs and services including, but not limited to: New Student Orientation (For Summer and Fall starters): Student Outreach, and Parent and Family Outreach for multiple campuses with a primary focus on the Dahlonega campus, and a support role for all other campuses.
  • Assist with supervision and assessment of the Orientation Leader team members, including, but not limited to: day of orientation direction, mid-season performance reviews, and general supervisory supports.
  • Communicate with prospective new students and their families regarding general UNG information and orientation programs.
  • Collaborate with academic partners to ensure effective communication to students regarding major options and group placement during the orientation process and facilitate post-orientation schedule adjustments.
  • Participate in all facets of planning, preparation, and execution of programs within Nighthawk Engagement and Student Transitions across all UNG campuses, in collaboration with other staff members to ensure achievement of departmental, divisional, and institutional goals, including overseeing travel logistics and communications with Orientation Leader team members.
  • Oversee intercampus travel logistics, including transportation, supplies, and meals.
  • Assist with recruitment, selection, and training of a multi-campus orientation leader team.
  • Actively participate in strategic planning and innovation efforts for the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
