Essential Job Duties
The Department of Food, Bioprocessing, and Nutrition Sciences at NC State is looking for a time-limited instructional designer and developer with experience designing and developing e-learning software for courses.  This individual will report to and assist the department’s Senior Instructional Designer and overall project manager with the design and development of multiple learning modules and faculty training documents to successfully execute a grant project awarded by the US Department of Agriculture Higher Education Challenge Grant program.  This position requires collaboration and interaction with a variety of stakeholders (i.e., faculty members, industry members, evaluation personnel, project managers, instructional designers, etc.) in order to create course materials.
The individual in this position should be knowledgeable and passionate about instructional design and development, adult learning theories, and authoring tools.  A successful individual in this role is able to communicate well, design instructional content, and revise and evaluate instructional materials to make learning more impactful.
This position requires a highly motivated, organized, and independent self-starter with the ability to solve problems, pivot when needed, design highly effective course materials, and provide solutions. The instructional designer and developer must be able to work independently while adhering to project timelines and scope to ensure deliverables are provided by established deadlines.  
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

●     Assists in the design and development of online, blended, hybrid, and face-to-face courses, including interactive activities, assessments, and other learning strategies by providing instructional design expertise
●     Uses relevant instructional design and adult learning theories to propose instructional content
●     Works with the senior instructional designer/overall project manager and faculty member(s) to develop relevant course content
●     Collaborates and consults with faculty, instructional designers, and instructional professionals regarding the effective use of instructional strategies, learning resources, and technologies to improve teaching and learning
●     Analyzes instructional problems and challenges to design, develop and implement solutions to these issues using relevant instructional design theories and adult learning principles (i.e., ADDIE model)
●     Assists in brainstorming, researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional and pedagogically sound solutions for instructional challenges
●     Other duties as assigned
