Job Description
Under supervision and/or direction, provides information and assistance to individuals regarding enrollment-related functions. With an overall knowledge and understanding of dual enrollment procedures and information, the Enrollment Services Specialist will guide the prospective and current student and their parents through various processes associated with program admissions, student records and registration,
The work consists of duties involving a variety of processes and methods. Decision-making depends on an analysis of the subject, or issues involved in each assignment, and the selected course of action may have to be chosen from many alternatives. Regular contacts are with students, parents, MCPS staff and the general public.
List of Functions:
Develop and maintain a broad knowledge of information pertaining to program admissions, registration, records, and applicable College policies and procedures, state and federal laws, and regulations. Examine, verify, and approve applications certifying benefits as appropriate. Inform eligible students of application approval and provide further guidance on enrollment processes and resources. Maintain files on eligible students that confirm required compliances.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in using a personal computer and software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
Skill in oral and written communication, interpersonal relationships, organization, multi-tasking, entering data correctly, making simple calculations, proof-reading; in Web technologies and creativity for developing user-friendly print and Web-based publications. Ability to work with a diverse population; to be attentive to detail; and to problem solve.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required
Associate's degree.
One year of experience working in admissions, registration, advising or an enrollment office at a college, university or high school setting
Physical Demands
Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with other employees and the public. Ability to learn information from College and department communications and technical sources. Ability to operate various items of office related equipment, such as, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Ability to lift, carry, push or pull light to medium weight objects with or without assistance, as well as, squat, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, stand, grasp, reach, pull, and perform repetitive motions. Use of hands/arms and legs in using work equipment, tools, and materials of the trade.
